Weediquette

Hosted by Krishna Andavolu and produced by Viceland, this show covers almost every aspect of the drug that you can imagine in both an informative and (more importantly) an entertaining way. Andavolu explores the many facets of weed and how it connects to things such as religion, health, cultivation, medicine, crime and law, giving you a pretty clear picture of how the world views and makes use of marijuana in these modern times. It’ll make you both laugh and think and is certainly worth watching for anybody interested in the subject.

High Maintenance

Originally airing on the popular user based streaming site Vimeo, High Maintenance, unlike most shows that involve weed, is set in New York and follows a dealer who distributes the drug out weird and hilarious range of customers here in one of the world’s most well-known cities. As he deals with his strange clientele, you’ll find that things often go awry.  Each episode introduces you to new customers and most of them are pretty hilarious in one way or another, it does however have an edge to it and covers a range of heavy social issues, meaning you’ll think as well as laugh.

Weeds

Weeds is easily the most well-known show on this list and as a result you’ve probably heard of it watched all by now. It follows a single mother who has recently been widowed, she decides to deal marijuana in order to support her family. This show was in fact one of the first to actually approach and question the stigma that surrounds the drug, when it was released in 2005 it became apparent that use of the drug was actually fairly common, this came as quite a surprise to many. Not only has this show been somewhat instrumental in awareness for cannabis but it was also a great show, winning several awards including a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Again, this show is listed as a comedy but has moments that really make you think about the ethics and morals that surround the industry and though the show ended in 2012 it still rings true to this day.

Weed Country

Weed Country is another documentary series on the subject, however this time it doesn’t focus on laughs but rather on showing you just what life is like for a grower the American west coasts Emerald Triangle. The show has only one season (as many of the best do) and uses real footage of these growers working out of Southern Oregon and Northern California as they are attempting to produce some of the best quality cannabis available whilst they battle against the law itself to get it done. The show is produced by the Discovery Channel and has some excellent footage, teaching you just what people go through in order to get this product on the market.
